Ganderbal:In a remarkable effort to protect both the local community and wildlife, Jafar Majeed Mir, a well-known biodiversity conservationist from Bonibagh, Kangan, rescued a venomous Levantine viper (Macrovipera lebetina) from a house today. After receiving an urgent call about the snake entering a home, Jafar promptly arrived at the scene and skillfully captured the viper, ensuring the safety of the residents.
The Levantine viper is one of the most venomous species in the region, requiring careful handling and expert knowledge. Thanks to Jafar’s extensive experience in wildlife rescue, the snake was safely transferred to the Department of Wildlife for further care and relocation to its natural habitat.
