Srinagar, Apr 10 (KNO): National Conference (NC) is likely to field Omar Abdullah and Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan from Srinagar and Baramulla parliamentary segments, respectively.
Sources told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the party high command has finalized the candidature of Omar Abdullah and Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan for these two seats.
“The party is likely to make an announcement in this regard tomorrow,” they said.
Omar, who served as CM of Jammu & Kashmir from 2019 to 2014, would be locked in a direct contest with Apni Party’s Muhammad Ashraf Mir and PDP’s Waheed-Ur-Rehman Parra.
In the last assembly election, Omar won Beerwah assembly segment by a margin of around 1000 votes but lost Sonawar seat to Muhammad Ashraf Mir of PDP, who is now associated with Apni Party.
Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan, a former minister, lost the 2014 Assembly election to Peoples Conference president Sajad Gani Lone by a margin of 5423 votes. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, National Conference was trailing by a margin of more than 8000 votes against Peoples Conference in Choudhary’s native assembly segment of Handwara—(KNO)
