During the drive a penal sum of Rs 2000 was recovered as a fine from  shopkeepers for violation of the Essential Commodities Act 1955, besides huge quantity of rotten vegetables,fruits and other food items were destroyed.Also huge quantity of polythene recovered on spot

When contacted Food Inspector Mr Fayaz Ahmad told Kashmir Based News Agency KNZ ,such market checking drive would be held continuously to curb the black-marketing, profiteering and hoarding.

The shopkeepers were asked to strictly adhere to government rate list and appealed to the people not to pay more than government approved rates.
