Srinagar, January 02 : A massive search operation has been started by government forces in over one dozen villages of Shopian district in south Kashmir.
Official sources said that 34 RR, 14th Bn CRPF and Shopian police started the search operation after receiving specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
As per sources the villages which are under cordon include Kachdora, Chakoo, Batapur, Abahatu, Budur, landoora, Garhind, Muradpur, Bamun, Tongrikol, Mantribuk, Harmain and it’s adjacent areas.
They added that door to door search operation is going on.
Shopian district is considered to be the a hot bet of militancy where more than 30 local militants are active.
Pertinently in 2017, about nine such massive search operations were launched by forces in South kashmir mainly in Shopian district, however all of them ended peacefully.
