Media Persons Protest In Srinagar

Several Journalists of south Kashmir region held a peaceful protest at Press colony Srinagar against the detention of a local photojournalist, Kamran Yousuf, by NIA on Wednesday.Holding banners, in favour of Kamran media men demanding release of Photo Journalist who according to them is a Professional Photo Journalist.The posters and banners read “ Kamran Yousuf is a Journalist not a stone pelter” and “Free Journalist Kamran Yousuf Arrested by NIA” read the banners.
A National Investigation Court (NIA), Wednesday sent Javed Ahmad Bhatt, an alleged stone pelter and Kamran Yousuf, a photojournalist to 10 days police custody, sources said.
Both were arrested on Tuesday.
District Judge Poonam A Bamba allowed the National Investigating Agency (NIA) to quiz Javed Ahmed Bhat from Kulgam and Kamran Yusuf from Pulwama till September 16 after the probe agency said they were required to be confronted with the other accused in the case, court sources said.
During in-chamber proceedings, the NIA also said the two had to be taken to various places in relation to the ongoing investigation.
Earlier scores of journalists held protests in Pulwama and later in Srinagar against the arrest of Kamran and said that he is a journalist and not a stone pelter as alleged by NIA.
