The Interim Executive Body Civil Society Ganderbal met today DC Ganderbal and presented a memorandum to him on behalf of Civil Society Ganderbal.
The meeting was also attended by SSP Ganderbal Fayaz Ah Lone, ADC Shahnawaz Bukhari, Tehsildar Lar Dr Haroon Rashid.
The administration was apprised with expected consequences of shifting of University to other District or to an alternate place within Ganderbal. More thrust was laid for setting University at the already proposed site and it was said that the administration should look for additional land at places like Badampora, Tehsilbagh, Safapora and not the alternate land.
Civil Society convenor Dr Khursheed Qureshi while presenting Memorandum on behalf of civil society aprised the Deputy Commissioner of the reason of calling this meeting and assured of full cooperation from the locals and holders side and that they will not be an impediment in any manner whatsoever.
Dr Qureshi in the meeting also pointed out that VC having been residing outside the district beside being inaccessible to CSG and students is having less watch and ward over the construction work at CUK main campus Tulmulla that has been the reason of slow pace of the construction work and that has been the main reason why no substantial work has been done till date.
Advocate Umer Wani, further deliberated upon the District administration to take necessary steps for shifting VC office to Ganderbal without any further delay.
Advocate Abid Jeelani while refering to the RTI’s filled, said that University is paying huge amount of rents at different rented accommodations, while they can get same type of accommodations within Ganderbal at cheaper rates.
Gh Rasool Dar, Irfan Naqshbandi, Gh Hassan Parra, Peer Gh Mohidin, Hakeem Rouf, Mohammad sikandar and other respected members of the Civil Society Ganderbal urged upon the administration for taking necessary steps and impress upon the University administration for immediate starting of administrative functions of the University from Ganderbal.
The Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal has assured that He will take all necessary steps so that the work will start at the Tullamulla-Kurhama site and that the VC office will be requested to start functioning from Ganderbal. DC halied the manner in whixh the people of Ganderbal under the banner of civil society are comming up for this issue and promised all possible intervention and help into the case.
DC Ganderbal was surprised by the figures revealed by RTI regarding the annual rent being paid to the buildings outside the district said he will provide convenient accommodation to the VC and his office within district Ganderbal.
