Ganderbal,August 25:District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Dr. Piyush Singla today held a high level meeting with the members of Road Safety Committee, District officers for the formulation and implementation of traffic management plan in order to make travelling on the district roads safe and secure besides reducing the number of road accident in the district.
SSP Ganderbal, Fayaz Ahmad Lone, ARTO Ganderbal Arif Shah, DySP Traffic Ganderbal, DySP Ganderbal, CEO Ganderbal, and other officers also attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed the prevailing scenario of road safety and steps were taken to create awareness among masses to reduce road accidents and promote safe driving. Important decisions towards achieving the goal of safe and secure roads were also taken during the meeting.
Expressing concern over the accidents in the district, the DDC directed the concerned departments to remain vigilant and take action against traffic violations. Dr. Singla also asked the concerned to install the sign boards to display safety measures of roads and rates for the transport plying through all routes in the district.
DDC asked the ARTO to organize awareness camps on ‘Road safety’ as well as on ‘Traffic rules and Regulations’ for generating awareness among the people. He also directed the Police authorities and RTO officers to regularly check overload in the buses across the district and challan the busses found violating the rules.
He further directed the CEO to conduct various programmes on Road Safety in order to aware the youth about the importance of helmets and seat belts while driving.
