Srinagar, October 22 : A militant has been killed in an ongoing gunfight in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Sunday morning.
“Acting on a specfic information a joint team of army’s 9 Para a and SOG launched a cordon-and-search operation in Hajin area of Kralgund today at around 5:00 am”, a senior police officer told Kashmir Glory.
As the joint team intensified the searches, the hiding militants opened fired triggering off an encounter, he said.
Sofar one militant has been killed and his identity is being ascertained, the officer said, adding that the operation is still going on in the area.
