Srinagar, May 11 : Atmosphere reverberated with gunshots after suspected militants reportedly fired upon Government Forces in the middle of the night on Srinagar-Jammu highway at Awantipora in South Kashmir.
Sources said that militants fired upon a joint naka party of CRPF and Police near Ziyarat Shareef at Awantipora in pulwama South Kashmir.
Sources added that Forces also retaliated while the exchange of fire lasted for quite some time.
The area according to sources was cordoned off and searches were conducted, however no arrests were made.
When contacted a police official feigned ignorance about the incident.
