Srinagar;11 July 2018 :Police in a statement today said that in spite of today’s Hartal call given by separatists some fruit vendors were carrying their normal business near Maternity Hospital Soura and traffic was also plying.
Police further said that however infuriated by this, some miscreants assembled near Sabzi Mandi Soura and started pelting stones on vehicles plying on the roads .
Keeping in view the rush of patients near Hospital, Police and SFs deployed there, exercised maximum restraint and avoided the confrontation with mob of stone pelters.
This infuriated and frustrated the mob of miscreants and they tried hard to engage security forces and escalate the situation.
Finally, during evening hours at the time of withdrawal of SFs, the miscreants in order to seek the attention of security forces and engage them, set ablaze few fruit carts which they dragged on the road. Also fencing around trees and road dividers was damaged.
The miscreants were later dispersed with minimum force. In this regard case FIR No: 80 under relevant provisions of law has been registered in Police Station Soura and investigations taken up.
