Srinagar, Aug 27 (KB): As a breakthrough, Police in Anantnag have successfully cracked multiple theft cases, leading to the arrest of five individuals from the Kokernag area and recovered stolen property worth lacs from their possession.
“A special team, formed in collaboration with ESU Anantnag, developed a technical lead that ultimately resulted in the apprehension of 5 accused persons,” said police in a handout issue to the news agency—Kashmir Bulletin (KB).
It further reads, they have been identified as Mohd Imran Hajam son of Mohd Shaban resident of Wan Devalgam, Nasir Ahmad Dar, Son of Showkat Dar resident of Tangpawa Kokernag, Adil Hussain Dar son of Ali Mohd Dar resident of Nagam, Shabir Ahmad Wagay son of Gh Hassan resident of Nagam Kokernag and Arshid Hussain Rather son of Mohd Akbar resident of Sultanpora Pattan.
“On their disclosure, stolen property including 05 gold coins, 05 gold rings, 04 pairs of ear-rings, 01 pendant set, 01 gold chain, 01 gold necklace with pendant, 03 mobile phones, besides cash amount of ₹36,000/- were recovered from their possession. Additionally, two vehicles used in the commission of these crimes have also been seized,” reads the handout further.
It also reads, accordingly, cases vide FIR No. 83/2024 and FIR No. 05/2024 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Kokernag and further investigation has been initiated. General public have appreciated the efforts of police for cracking/solving the cases. Police urges the public to continue supporting law enforcement efforts by reporting any suspicious activities in their neighbourhood.
