The Chief Electoral Officer of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday evening released the toll count and percentage of votes polled on Monday for different districts of Kashmir valley and Jammu division.8.3 per cent of the electorate voted in the first-phase of the urban local body polls in Kashmir Valley, while Kargil recorded the highest turnout of 78 per cent, an official said Monday.Polling in 83 wards of the valley began at 7 am and ended at 4 pm amidst tight security.“Only 7,057 voters of the 84,692 eligible persons turned up to vote in the wards which went to polls Monday. The polling was by and large peaceful,” the official said.According to official data Anantnag district in southern Kashmir recorded a poll percentage of 7.3 while Budgam in central Kashmir recorded a percentage of 17.Similarly Bandipora, Baramulla and Kupwara districts in northern Kashmir recorded a poll percentage of 3.4, 5.1 and 32.3 respectively.The capital city Srinagar recorded a poll percentage of 6.2 percent.The twin towns of Kargil and Leh recorded a poll percentage of 78.2 and 55.2 respectively.In Jammu division, the Jammu district recorded a percentage of 63.8, Poonch 73.1 and Rajouri 81.As per figures provided by CEO, J&KJammu Municipal Corporation area recorded 61.92 percent polling whileMC Khour witnessed highest 89% polling in Jammu district.
