Srinagar, October 18[KNZ]:Promising all possible help to address the infrastructural problems of Jammu Kashmir Public Service Commission, Minister for Public Works Naeem Akhtar today directed the officials to retrofit the three unused buildings of Sericulture department to be converted into examination halls of JKPSC.
The Minister visited the JKPSC office today to review various developmental works of the commission. He was accompanied by JKPSC chairman, CE R&B, officials of ERA, Sericulture and other departments.
The Minister was informed about the acute shortage of space for examination hall for the commission to which he directed the officials to examine the possibilities of utilizing the old three unused buildings of sericulture department. The three buildings which have been already granted heritage status have large unused space. The Minister directed the officials to utilize the buildings in such a way that its heritage status is not compromised in any way. He said that such a use will ensure the preservation of building is a proper way too. He said that world over premier institutes often operate from heritage buildings and JKPSC can add rich history to its working too by using these buildings.
The Minister also directed the officials to upgrade the approach road leading to JKPSC office at the earliest. R&B department was also entrusted to maintain the buildings of JKPSC. He also directed the officials to develop and landscape premises with help of experts.
The Minister said that government is committed to provide all possible support to JKPSC as was envisioned and promised by late Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Syed.
