Ganderbal, Sep 14: Under the directions of District Administration & Directorate of Health Services,Kashmir, Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyaan was organised at Govt. Degree College,Kangan by Chief Medical Officer Ganderbal Dr Afroza Shah.
The participants included students & staff of Govt Degree College Kangan wherein District Mental Health Unit & District Counselors of District Hospital Ganderbal facilitated in awaring and sensitising the participants about the ill effects of drug addiction and ways and means to avoid falling into the lethal trap of drug menace.Various issues were discussed threadbare and stress was laid on how to facilitate persons suffering from drug addiction to come out of this grave bad habit.
The inaugural speech was deliberated upon by Medical Superintendent SDH Kangan Dr Salma Yaseen where she spoke about the prevailing circumstances of drug menace and how significant is the involvement of various stakeholders to uproot this menace from the society.She emphasised on the role of youth in eradicating the drug menace from the society.
Resource persons from DMHP deliberated lectures to inculcate sense of awareness among students about the need to work in tandem against drug addiction.List of speakers included Dr Umar Jan, Dr Insha,Ms Afshan.College students also spoke on the occasion and took part in the debates pertained to the theme of the programme
Pertinently it is to mention that CMO Ganderbal has chalked out detailed outreach programme calendar for the month of September so that bulk awareness is generated among masses against the rampant drug addiction menace.
At end of the program the pledge against drug de-addiction was taken in which teaching/non teaching staff and students took part.
