Slams BJP for obsession with seat counting ahead of upcoming J&K elections
Srinagar, Aug 18 (KNC): National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah today announced that his party will reveal its candidates for the ensuing Jammu and Kashmir elections immediately after the notification for the first phase is issued on August 20.
Speaking to media persons in Srinagar, Omar according to news agency Kashmir News Corner—(KNC), said while BJP is obsessed with numbers, NC is getting ready for the electoral battle.
“The BJP is always counting seats, but we don’t share that obsession,” Omar said. He also said the NC would declare its candidates after the notification for the first phase of elections is issued on August 20.
“Just two days back, the announcement was made, and as soon as the notification comes, we will field our candidates with the hope of success,” he added.
Asked if the BJP was overconfident about its prospects of winning the elections, Abdullah pointed to its history, and said the BJP has always been overconfident. They once talked about crossing 400 seats, but the momentum stopped at 240. It’s better if they avoid such overconfidence this time.
Omar also said that it is more important to have strategic preparation instead of indulging in number games; the NC is preparing for the electoral battle in Jammu and Kashmir. —(KNC)
