Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said that New Delhi needs to explain the basis of a statement made by a senior minister in Mehbooba-led government over the involvement of China in Kashmir issue.
“China has adopted JeM, a terrorist organisation operating in J&K. This assertion from @MehboobaMufti’s closest confidant cannot be dismissed as wild ramblings. Govt of India needs to explain the basis of this statement,” Omar wrote on Twitter.
Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir government’s spokesperson and minister for Public Words Department Naeem Akhtar in an interview to an English daily linked China’s consistent vetoing to designate chief of Jaish-e-Muhammad militant outfit Masood Azhar as a “terrorist in United Nations” with Kashmir situation.
“Such things don’t happen without a reason and China’s connection with Jaish needs to be understood,” Akhtar was quoted as saying in the report.
“The Kashmir issue isn’t limited to the fight between India and Pakistan now. There is another major factor involved. It isn’t Pakistan alone, it is China too. General (Bipin Rawat) said that the Army is ready to fight on both fronts. But there aren’t two fronts anymore. Now it is one single front, circling around. From Bhutan to Arunachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Valley to Jammu, Sri Lanka and Maldives, it is all one front. Pakistan and China aren’t separate,” Akhtar told the newspaper.
