‘Stocks depleted due to highway closure’
Srinagar, Feb 23 (GNS): Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Saturday said petrol rationing at fuel pumps across Kashmir was being done in wake of “depleted stock due to the closure of Srinagar-Jammu highway.”
“There is no need to panic and people should not pay heed to rumours regarding the shortage of petrol,” the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Khan told GNS.
Petrol pumps in Kashmir saw a huge rush of people as speculations were rife Saturday about the possible motives behind the Centre’s decision to “immediately” deploy an additional 100 companies of paramilitary forces in the region amid the nocturnal arrests of over 130 people including JKLF chairman Yasin Malik and top Jamaat-e-Islami leaders.
