New Delhi, Dec 18: PM Narendra Modi, making a strong defence of the scrapping of Article 370, said “no power in the universe could restore the revoked provisions of the Constitution”, according to a report.
The scrapping of Article 370 was necessary for the development of the people and ease of their life, PM said, pointing out that the special status provision awarded to J&K was being used by some for political interests.
“The abrogation of Article 370 was more important for the people of Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh than any politics. The abrogation of Article 370 was necessary for the development of the people and ease of their life. It was captured by some family members due to their political interests,” PM said in an interview to Danik Jagran. The transcript of the interview was shared by PM on his official site – narendramodi.in
“The common people of Jammu and Kashmir should not be used for selfish politics, nor do they want to be. Like every citizen of the country, they want to overcome the troubles of the past and secure the future of his children and the present without any discrimination,” he said.
After Article 370, the face of both Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh has changed, PM said. “Now cinema halls are running there. Earlier, terrorists used to roam free here, now there is a fair flow of tourists. Now, there is no stone throwing in the valley. Instead films are being shot. The common Kashmiri family is liking it. Even today, to those who are spreading confusion about Article 370 out of political interest, I will tell them bluntly – Now no power in the universe can bring back Article 370,” PM said.–(TimesNowNews)
