Government forces on Friday launched nocturnal cordon and search-operation at Hizbul Mujahideen commander Riyaz Naikoo’s village at Takuna Beighpora village of Awantipora township in Pulwama district.
Police sources said on Friday night, forces launched search operation in the village following “specific inputs” about the presence of two-three militants including Hizb commander Riyaz Naikoo in the area.
“Forces launched house-to-house searches at Ghat Takuna area. Large numbers of security forces including para commandos were pressed into service,” said a witness.
J&K Police, Army’s Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jointly launched the operation. A senior police official told that it was a “normal domination practice” by the forces in this area that concluded peacefully during late night.
