May 28: Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Sopore has arrested a notorious drug peddler and seized contraband substances & cash of Rs 38,750 from his possession.
One person identified as Shafat Ahmad Gojree son of Mohammad Ismaiel resident of Watergam was arrested near Watergam area for drug supply offences. He has been taken to Police Station Dangiwacha where he remains in custody.
Officers at the spot have seized huge quantity of contraband substances which include Brown Sugar, Charas & cash of Rs 38,750.
As per police records he was a notorious drug peddler selling drugs among youth in the area. Accordingly a case FIR No. 93/2019 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Dangiwacha. Further investigation in the matter is going on.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
