Ladakh:ongress leader Rahul Gandhi started off on a bike ride to Pangong Lake in Ladakh on Saturday in order to honour his father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s birthday, which is on August 20. This was announced by authorities in New Delhi on Saturday,

Rahul Gandhi posted the following message on the social networking site Instagram: “On our way to Pangong Lake, which my father used to say is one of the most beautiful places in the world.”

This is Rahul’s first trip to Ladakh since Jammu and Kashmir was divided into two Union Territories, Ladakh and J-K, on August 5, 2019, after the abolition of Articles 370 and 35 (A).

On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi landed in Leh to start his two-day visit to the Union Territory; however, according to sources close to the party, his trip has been extended till August 25.

On Friday, he engaged in conversation with people of Leh’s younger generation.

In addition, according to the source, the individual would attend a football match in Leh. During his time as an undergraduate, Rahul was active in the college football team.

In addition to this, on August 25 he will take part in the meeting of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC)-Kargil elections.

For the upcoming Kargil council elections on September 10, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be facing off against Congress and National Conference, which have formed a pre-poll coalition against the BJP.

Even though the Congress MP travelled to Srinagar and Jammu on two separate occasions earlier this year, he did not go to Ladakh.

During his tour across India (known as the Bharat Jodo Yatra), the head of the Congress party stopped in Jammu and Srinagar in January. In February, while on a separate personal trip, he went to the Gulmarg ski resort once again
