Srinagar: Taking a suo moto cognizance regarding the arrest of freelance photo journalist, Kamran Yousuf, the Press Council of India (PCI) on Thursday issued a notice to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), J&K police and other state officials.
The letter said that the matter is prima facie concerned with the freedom of press in the country.
“Reply statement to this notice may please be filed within two weeks from the date of receipt of this letter to enable the further processing of the matter,” the letter said.
Kamran Yousuf of Pulwama was arrested on September 05 and flown to Delhi. He contributed to several media organisations in Kashmir from Southern Kashmir parts.
