Srinagar, Feb 7: The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) held a high-level meeting at its party headquarters in Srinagar on Friday during which focus was put on the “rising civilian killings and arbitrary arrests” made in the name of security in Jammu and Kashmir.
Party President and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti chaired the meeting.
A spokesman of the PDP said the meeting focused on addressing key organizational and political issues, as well as the challenges faced by the people, particularly the rising civilian killings and arbitrary arrests made in the name of security.
During the meeting, it was decided to launch a membership drive, which will begin at the PDP office in Jammu on February 13 of this month.
The Party President urged the leaders to take the membership campaign to every corner of Jammu and Kashmir to expand the party’s base and increase its support.
The meeting was attended by the PDP Vice President, Mohd Sartaj Madni, Parliamentary Board Chairman, A.R. Veray, General Secretaries Advocate Abdul Haq Khan, Rajinder Manhas, M.R. Qurashi, Satpal Singh Charak, MLA Kupwara, Mir Mohammed Fayaz, senior Leaders Naeem Akhtar, Asia Naqash, Additional General Secretaries Advocate Nasir Hussain and Rajat Randhawa Additional Spokesperson of the party.–(UNI)
