Ganderbal 29 July (KNZ):Scores of residents Wednesday took to roads at Hayan area of Kangan in Ganderbal district, demanding macadamisation and widening of link roads in the area.
Enraged residents told Kashmir News Zone-KNZ that authorities repaired and macadamised most of the link roads in Kangan Tehsil but left the link roads unattended in Akhal and Hayan areas.
The protesters alleged that they were “facing immense problems due to the PMGSY department negligence for years to repair the road” which connects many villages in the upper reaches.
Protesting demanding immediate blacktopping and widening of the link roads in these areas.
“They also said none of the government agency is coming forward to repair our link roads” said Gh Rasool Wani
He also added,“We approached the concerned authorities many a times, but our repeated pleas have fallen on deaf ears,” they said.
The government is playing with our lives by not repairing the road,” said a resident of Hayan
Locals told Kashmir News Zone-KNZ, that the 07-kilometers stretch of road from Akhal Bridge to Hayan is in shambles and dotted with potholes giving trouble to the travelers.
They said that the distance that can be covered in half an hour is covered in more than two hours owing to potholes all over the road.
A local of the Hayan village said the road is in deplorable condition and it is painful for us especially patients.
Protesting people appealed LG G C Marmu to initiate macdimisation process of link roads in the area.
