Ganderbal ,Feb 19(KNZ) : New type of primary Health Centre in far-flung village Chattergul area of Kangan In Ganderbal District lacks adequate facilities and medical staff, which compels patients to travel 30 to 50 Km’s for treatment.
Local residents said that they were very happy when Sub-Centre was upgraded to new type PHC.But,the upgradation was only on paper and infrastructure is same as it was before. The PHC is still working building which has very little space.”
They said “Doctor posted there are occasionally present in the centre and ambulance driver is only available for 3 days and emergency patients suffer because of it .”
Locals alleged that Nursing aid working in the PHC gives prescription to patients.which can prove fatal.
Manzoor Ahmad ,a local resident said,”Medicine is not avialable in the PHC.We don’t even get syringe here.More than 10 villages depend on the Health Centre for primary healthcare needs.Patients are compelled to visit Trauma hospital Kangan, and sometimes Ganderbal or Soura, for treatment.
Local residents demand adequate facilties and staff espically doctors and paramedics for the PHC.
When Kashmir News Zone-KNZ contacted CMO Ganderbal Dr Roshan Din Kasana he said, “NRHM employees strike may have effected the functioning of the PHC.I will ensure doctors are available every day there and paramedics have also been posted there. We have problem of space.Once it will be available ,every facility will be provided.”he added.KNZ
