Srinagar, Oct 02 (KNS): To demand their wages pending from past nearly two years, hundreds of employees from Public Health Engineering (PHE) along with their kids Tuesday staged a protest in Srinagar’s Pratap Park to highlight their plights in view of withholding their wages.

Association president, Sajad Ahmad Parray told reporters here that the government must release their wages pending from nearly two years, saying that all the offices across the Valley will be locked down on October 05 and 06 to mark a protest against the delay in wages.
“We are being forced to hit the streets and to take extreme step in view of the pending wages. We hope that the government will release our wages soon and in case our wages will not be release then they will stop water supply from all the division to press for their demands,” he said.
He also said that the government has no reason to delay their wages but it is unnecessarily harassing the thousands of poor families here by delaying their wages.
The children also spoke on the occasion and said that the school authorities are forcing them to stay at their homes in view of the pending fee. “Our parents have no money to deposit our fee in the schools, thus forcing us to stay away from attending the classes,” they said.
They said that delay in wages has affected their education. “We appeal the government to release the wages of our parents at an earliest,” they demanded. (KNS)
