Gurez, 03 Nov: Police on Wednesday booked Principal Government Degree College Gurez/Tulail of Bandipora district for allegedly sexually harrassing his subordinate in the college.
Police has registered and FIR No: 13/2022 under section 354-A, 506 IPC in this regard. The FIR was registered after a female employee of College lodged a written complaint with Gurez police stating she is being continuosly sexually harassed by him.
According to report, the Police has now formally started an investigation into the matter. Station House officer Gurez, said an investigation into the matter is currently underway.
He said that the female employee approached the police to file a written complaint against the principal where she had alleged that she was sexually harassed during duty hours at the college. He said the Principal was touching her inappropriately besides passing an unsolicited comments.
“The accused in this case holds a position of responsibility in an educational institute, where even students can become victims. I hope the police takes serious action against him,” said an elder of the area.
According to reports, the employee had first approached the college authorities and the mandatory committee for Sexual harrassement at Work Place to take strict action in the matter but they failed to act following which she approached police.
