Ganderbal 07 June (KNZ):To put an end to the use and spread of Drug Menace, Ganderbal Police is making consistent efforts by way of enforcement operations, an Information recieved on reliable sources regarding Poppy Opium Cultivation in the Jurisdiction of PP Shadipora.
On the directions of SSP Ganderbal Shri Nikhil Borkar-IPS under the supervision of DySP Hqr’s Ganderbal Shri Gh Hassan-JKPS, special Police team led by DO PP Shadipora booked a person & registered an FIR against him for cultivating Opium Poppy plants in his fields at Zarigund Ganderbal. The said person disclosed his identity as; Geelani Bhat S/O Ab Majid Bhat R/O Wakura, Ganderbal.
The green Poppy Bulbs 01 Quintal, 12 Kgs & 600 Grams was recovered & seized in presence of Executive Magistrate 1st Class Wakura.
In this regard, Case FIR No.155/2023, U/S 8/18 NDPS Act was registered at PS Ganderbal & investigation has been taken up.
General Public has applauded & appreciated the Swift action of Ganderbal Police in eradicating Drug menace from the society.
Ganderbal Police again requests general public to avoid cultivation of Contraband Drugs in their fields, so that young generation can be saved from drug abuse.KNZ
