Says ‘credit of incident free Independence Day parades goes to people’

Srinagar, Aug 15: Director General of Police Dr S P Vaid has said that police is in a state of readiness for holding Municipal and Panchayat elections in Jammu and Kashmir state.
Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Director General of Police Dr S P Vaid said that credit for conduct of incident free Independence Day parades across Kashmir goes to people and expressed the readiness of police in holding peaceful Municipal and Panchayat elections in the state.
However, DGP Vaid made it clear that all depends on the people who have to elect members to Panchayat and Municipal bodies. He exuded confidence that Municipalities and Panchayats are key to developmental progress in the state and it is good for the people if Municipal and Panchayat bodies are elected for the conduct of civic facilities in rural and urban areas. He said credit for the conduct of peaceful Independence Day parades across Kashmir goes to people. He said that police will pace up the process of close coordination with the people at gross root level to ensure fee and fair Municipal and Panchayat elections in the state. (KNS)
