Handwara July 18: Police in Handwara have seized illicit timber in village Mankal and arrested an accused person involved in the commission of crime.
Police Station Qalamabad alongwith forest officials recovered 25 logs of illicit timber from the possession of one person identified as Ghulam Mohd Mir son of Mohd Jamal resident of Mankal. He has been arrested and shifted to police Station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.44/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Qalamabad and investigation has been initiated.
The drive against timber smugglers will continue to ensure protection of green gold. Our consistent actions against anti-social elements should reassure the community members that we are making every effort to keep our society free of crime. Police have resolved to act as per law against those who indulge in criminal & anti-social activities.
