Coffee Table Book distributed among PRIs, District Officers

GANDERBAL, AUGUST 20: District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today said that PRIs are the real representatives of Rural Population which comprises about 80% of total population.

The DDC said this during a function organized with an aim to commemorate the achievements for the year 2019-20 in the district besides to interact with the PRIs to get feedback about their working in the Panchayats and have firsthand appraisal of their grievances.

During the function, “Coffee Table Book”, recently published by the District Administration was also distributed among Block Development Council (BDC) chairpersons, Sarpanchs besides District and Sectoral Officers of the district who were present on the function.

Among others, the function was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Farooq Ahmed Baba, Assistant Commissioner Development, Bilal Mukhtar, Chief Planning Officer, SDM Kangan, District Program Officer, ICDS, District Panchayat Officer and other district and sectoral Officers.

 During the function, several BDC chairpersons and Sarpanchs spoke on the occasion and highlighted the developmental initiative taken in 2019-20 and appraised about certain issues of public importance in their respective Panchayats.
They also commended the District Administration for their support to carry the slogan of equal development of all blocks at the ground level.

ACD while speaking on the occasion highlighted the role of PRIs in overall development and initiatives taken by the District Administration in this regard.

District Officers also speak during the function and highlighted the various schemes available with them and to ensure benefits reach to the deserving beneficiary, they sought cooperation of PRIs in implementing these schemes on ground.

After distributing the first Coffee Table Book, the DDC said that this informative document is provided to each Panchayat for information of the public which showcases the developmental achievements made by all departments in the past one year and the performance of the District Administration especially that of the key departments has been highlighted.

While responding the issues raised by the PRIs like pending payment of material under MGNREGA and cooperation of District Officers, the DC said that necessary instructions are already given to the officers and assured them cooperation of all district officers in development programs of the district.

On the occasion, the DDC suggested the Sarpanchs and BDC chairpersons to work for equitable development of all sects of the society and assured their involvement in district Plan formation.
