Srinagar, Nov 1 : In a shocking incident, a private school in the outskirts of Srinagar city discharged a student from the school after his father purchased notebooks for him in open market.
The school in question is Fayaz Educational Institute, located at Naik Bagh Nowgam.
The father of the student has registered a complaint before Directorate of School Education Kashmir and has demanded stern action against school for violation of norms as well as converting education centre into a money-minting centre.
Reports said that a Class 8th student Moulim Javaid, a resident of Methan Chanapora was asked to leave the school after he didn’t purchase notebooks from the shop, run and managed by school owners themselves in the premises of their Institution. “I had bought notebooks for my child on cheaper rates while the school sells the same on exorbitant rates. I have limited income and can’t afford stationery at higher rates,” Javaid Ahmed told news agency CNS.
Javaid Ahmed said that he was shocked when school authorities asked him take the discharge certificate of his son. “Are they running a business centre or education centre? The school is fleecing the parents while authorities don’t initiate action against it,” he said.
He said school owners have been forcing parents to buy the uniform and books from their shop. “They sell every stuff at higher rates,” he said and lamented that before issuing discharge certificate, his son was kept in open field for whole day as a punishment.
Despite repeated attempts, the school management couldn’t be contacted. (CNS)
