SRINAGAR 14 AUG【KNZ】:Kashmir’s distinct cultural identity is linked to its constitutional special status and any encroa chment or tempering with the same will amount to loss of our identity was the concern expressed by the veteran artists of Kashmir in a sit in protest at press enclave today.
We are already facing a lot of victimization in the field of art and if we lose our constitutional safeguards worst times are ahead said a senior artist The sit in was organized t register a protest of creative community against the efforts being made by vested interests to get the article 35-A abolished through “Legal” track. The artists said being an important constituent of Kashmir’s civil society; they cannot remain mute spectators to the mischievous design behind the present move. Therefore we have decided to be part and parcel of the struggle launched to safeguard the special status of the state.
The artists appealed all well meaning people across the globe to extend their support to the struggle of Kashmiris in this behalf. United we stand divided we fall is the lesson to be learnt and adopted in the given situation is the message we would like to send, artists said in one voice
