Kanagan:- In anticipation of inclement weather conditions, including rain and snowfall in higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Kanagan has issued a weather advisory for the Gangangeer-Sonamarg Road.
Officials said that the advisory aims to ensure the safety of commuters and prevent traffic congestion during adverse weather the following restrictions have been imposed.
Only four-wheel-drive vehicles equipped with anti-skid chains will be permitted to travel on the Gangangeer-Sonamarg Road and vice versa.
Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) with a seating capacity of 10 or fewer passengers will be allowed on the road. Only registered anti-skid chain vendors will be permitted to install chains on vehicles in designated parking areas, ensuring smooth traffic flow.
Tour operators and private vehicle owners are advised to park their vehicles only in designated parking spaces, avoiding roadside parking.
Coat and boot vendors are prohibited from soliciting customers on the road.
In a separate order, the SDM has also directed all the sectoral/HOIs of essential service departments of Sub-Division Kangan to remair stationed at their respective headquarters and enforce their men & machinery strictly on ground as per the winter preparedness plan. All the departments shall ensure close coordination with each other for smooth & hassle-free delivery of seryices
The SDM has urged all commuters and stakeholders to adhere to these guidelines to ensure a safe and hassle-free journey during the upcoming weather conditions.
