Srinagar, July 28: Seven CRPF men were injured in a grenade explosion at  Jawbhara area of Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday evening.

A police officer told GNS that some suspected militants lobbed a grenade towards the CRPF party near Jawbhara Chowk.
In the blast, seven CRPF men of 130 bn, sustained splinter injuries and were taken to nearby hospital for treatment, he said.

All the injured were later taken to army’s 92 base hospital, Badamibagh, Srinagar for advanced treatment, he said, adding that the condition of one among the injured is said to be critical.

Soon after the incident, the government forces launched searches in the area to nab the attackers, he said.
Meanwhile, the militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has claimed the responsibility for the attack.
In a statement issued to GNS, a spokesperson of the outfit said that its cadres carried lobbed the grenade on the Indian force’s vehicle at Jawbhara. The grenade exploded inside the vehicle “in which a number of CRPF men were killed and injured”. (GNS)
