Srinagar 16 Sep : Shutdown is being observed in Kulgam and Anantnag districts of south Kashmir to mourn the killings of five militants and a civilian in clashes in Chowgam village of Qazigund yesterday.
An eye witness said shops and other business establishments are closed and traffic is off the roads in Devsar, Kulgam, DH Pora, Yaripora and Qaimoh towns and adjacent villages.
Reports said Qazigund town and adjoining areas are witnessing a complete shutdown.
Mir Bazar, Anantnag town and adjoining areas like Dialgam are shut too against the killings.
Five militants and a civilian – all residents of Kulgam and Anantnag districts – were killed in a gunfight and clashes in Chowgam yesterday. Nearly two dozen protesters were injured in clashes near the site of the gunfight.(GK)
