Ganderbal:The joint sleuths of Forest (Territorial) & Forest Protection Force carried out an eviction drive in Compartment 17 Mansbal range today in which 28 Kanals of forest land was evicted from 8 recorded encroachers.
The team was constituted by DFO Sindh to carry out anti-encroachment drive on the instructions of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir. The team dismantled the fencing put up by the encroachers.
DFO Sindh Forest Division Mr Owais Farooq while speaking to media has appealed to people to desist from encroaching on Forest Land.He further asserted that such drives will continue in future as well.
Notably, the J& K High Court in PIL No.25/2017 SAVE vs J&K Govt. has directed for eviction of all forest encroachments in J&K and Government has constituted one oversight committee which is headed by Principal Secretary Revenue and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Divisional Commissioners are its members.
