Srinagar, Feb 15.: An attendant who is by forte a doctor has lodged a complaint after a Nurse (Name Withheld) allegedly created a scene, used abusive language in a ward at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences Soura.
The Complainant has not only demanded a thorough probe into the incident but also has requested Medical Superintendent SKIMS to initiate action against the ‘foul-mouthed’ Nurse.
In his complaint to Medical Superintendent SKIMS, the complainant Dr Farooq Ahmed Kaloo it is shocking that a Nurse who is supposed to help and have sympathy with the patients and attendants used abusive language and created a scene in presence of doctors.
The Nurse in question is posted at Radio Oncology Ward of State Cancer Centre at SKIMS.
“On the intervening night of Feb 14 and 15, the attendants of a female patient (bed no. 1 ) Radio Oncology Unit sought help from the Nurse to get the drug administered to a critically ill patient with a broken back, writing in pain.”
“The two lady attendants needed the Nurse’s help to position the patient properly, but little did they know that the nurse on duty was not only intemperate and lacking sympathy and empathy but also a pugnacious lady with an extremely foul mouth.”
“The Nurse didn’t like being called during night hours, though she was on duty in the ward. She screamed and used offensive and abusive language to the annoyance of every patient and attendant in the Ward shouting at the top of her voice that this (helping the attendants in administering a drug or using a medicament) was not her duty. It took the shocked attendants time to calm her down and get rid of her. The pugnacious Nurse did not care even for the doctors on duty who tried to intervene.”
The complainant in his complaint has requested Medical Superintendent to have the incident inquired properly through a team of seasoned officers and remove the intemperate and foul-mouthed Nurse from the sensitive duty of attending the terminally ill patients.
“In fact, she does not deserve to be in the service of SKIMS. After hearing the two attendants and others I am more than convinced that such persons do not deserve to be in the noble profession of nursing,” the complainant in his letter has written. (KNT)
