December 26: Acting tough against the drug dealings, Police in Sopore have arrested 03 drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
A police party from Police Post Watergam at a checkpoint established at Behrampora Rafiabad intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK05A 5882 with three persons on board. They have been identified as Shabir Ahmad Zarger resident of Behrampora, Mehrajudin Wani resident of Sumbal Bandipora and Feroz Ahmad Dar resident of Mujgund Shalteng. During checking, Officers were able to recover 18gms of brown sugar from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Dangiwacha where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 152/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Dangiwacha and investigation into the matter has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
