Srinagar, Apr 15: National Conference (NC) vice president and former chief minister on Monday said that the special status to Jammu and Kashmir was inherited, saying that the trio political parties including Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peoples Conference (PC) destroyed the State in unison.
As per Kashmir News Service (KNS) correspondent, addressing a gathering at SK Park here, Omar said that conspiracies are being hatched to remove the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. “Many forces including Prime Minister Narendra Modi are trying to attack the special status of the state but we have to fight against such ploys,” he said.
He also said that PM Modi is naming NC and its leadership, saying he will not let them (NC) succeed, but let him (Modi) succeed on May 23. “Modi’s naming the party (NC) and its leadership is indicating his frustration. We are a small party and naming our party and leadership means we are giving him a tough fight,” he said.
Omar further stated that Modi claimed to fight alone but has joined hands with many. “We are those are making contradict statements. We always remain on one page. It was Modi who during 2014 promised to end the dynasty parties in JK but later forged an alliance with one of such party (PDP),” he said.
He added that NC has always promised of autonomy in Jammu and Kashmir. “PM Modi should have objected the promise of NC in the past as well. When I was minister in Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s rule, we worked for restoration of autonomy, why didn’t you (Modi) object then. We never forget our promises. Let you (Modi) remain on your promises,” he said.
Omar further added that the BJP under the leadership of Modi has failed to give anything to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “In last five years, Lotus (BJP), Pen and inkpot (PDP) and Apple (PC) destroyed the Jammu and Kashmir unitedly,” he said. (KNS)
