Banihal, Jan 29 (KNO): A Special Police Officer (SPO) was killed after he was hit by a speedy vehicle in Shaban Bass area of Banihal in Ramban district in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday late evening.
A police officer told wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the truck bearing registration number HR65-9167 hit the traffic policeman (SPO) at Shaban Bass area of Banihal.
The incident occurred when the cop was performing his duties and signalled the truck driver to stop.
The deceased policeman has been identified as Special Police Officer Pervaiz Ahmad Malik (35) son of Abdul Aziz Malik of Runigam, Ramban.
Pervaiz according to reports is survived with a wife, 4 daughters and 10-year-old son.
The officer said that soon after the incident, the driver fled from the spot and later the traffic and a local police team chased him few kilometers and seized the truck and arrested him.
A police officer of the concerned police station told KNO that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigations taken up.(KNO)
