Srinagar, Nov 30 (GNS): Authorities on Tuesday suspended vehicular traffic along Srinagar-Muzaffarabad in view of repair of Nand Singh bridge in Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Officials told GNS that the suspension of traffic was necessitated as a team of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has been roped in for repairs of the bridge, which according to them, has developed some damage in support plates.
As of now, the traffic will remain suspended for two hours and once the repair is finished it will be accordingly resumed, they said.
SDM Uri Harvinder Sing meanwhile in a tweet wrote, “It is for the information of all that NS Bridge near Uri town shall be closed for vehicular traffic from 1PM to 3PM today to carry out urgent repair works. All are requested to make suitable arrangements to avoid any inconvenience! (sic.).”
It has been learnt that many vehicles are stranded on both sides of the strategic bridge. (GNS)
