June 22: Continuing its drive against drug dealings in Srinagar, Police have arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
Officers at a checkpoint established at Chotabazar Karan Nagar intercepted a vehicle Inova bearing registration number JK01T-9260 with three persons onboard. They have been identified as Iliyas Mohd son of Ayaz Ahmad Imam Hamdani resident of Nawakadl Srinagar, Mohsin Khan son of Abdul Qayoom Khan resident of Nawabazar Srinagar and Adil Ahmad Bhat son of Nazir Ahmad Bhat resident of Fateh Kadal Srinagar. During checking officers were able to recover 260 grams of Charas from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to PS Shaheed Gunj where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime have also been seized by the officers.
Accordingly, a case FIR No.72/20 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Shaheed Gunj and investigation has been taken up.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Police has resolved to deal robustly with drug peddlers.
