March 09: Srinagar Police have arrested five gamblers in a series of actions in Bemina and Chanapora areas of District Srinagar.In Bemina, a police party from Police Post Bemina raided a gambling site following an input about gambling activities in Dal Colony Bemina.
Two persons arrested by police identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat resident of Sabdan Galwanpora and Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh resident of Dal Colony.
They have been shifted to Police Station Parimpora where they remain in custody. Officers have seized playing cards and stake money of ₹8,200 from the gamblers.In Chanapora, police party from Police Post Chana Pora raided a gambling site following an input about gambling activities in Chanapora Bund area.
Three persons arrested by police identified as Muzamil Ahmad Bhat, Bashir Ahmad Matta both residents of Tengpora Srinagar and Bilal Ahmad Wani resident of Chana Pora. They have been shifted to Police Station Sadder where they remain in custody. Officers have seized playing cards and stake money of ₹5,963 from the gamblers.Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police respective Police Stations and further investigations into the matter have been initiated.Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
