Srinagar, Feb 28: Today, SSM College of Engineering Diver Parihaspora celebrated National Science Day at its campus to commemorate the contribution of Dr. C.V. Raman, the first Indian Nobel laureate. The theme for this year’s Science Day was “Global Science for Global Well Being.”
The programme was attended by alumni of the institute, Er. Irfan Reshi, Technical Officer PMGSY Kashmir, and Er. Gazi Shohaib Legal Metrological officer, besides hundreds of students, faculty, and staff of the institute.
The programme comprised scientific presentations, project displays, poster competitions, quizzes, and prototype displays by the alumni, faculty, and students. The speakers highlighted the importance of National Science Day, especially with this year’s theme of “Global Science for Global Well Being,” and advised the students to use this occasion to get enlightened by the deliberations of the dignitaries and other speakers.
Er. Haya Qazi, Education Administrator of the college, stressed in her brief address to the gathering on the adoption of the latest technologies in the field of science, including Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Nano Technology, and other related fields that have become more relevant in every field of science/engineering.
Prof. (Dr.) N.A. Shah, President Alumni Association of the college, also spoke about the importance of celebrating National Science Day and stressed the need for students to inculcate a scientific temper for the overall contribution to the well-being of society.
The programme ended with the distribution of mementos and certificates to the alumni and other contributors.
