Srinagar: Rejecting all the accusations of dishonour, police today said that body of sub inspector (SI) Imran Tak was dispatched to Udhampur from Srinagar with full respect and honour.
The Police officer said that unpredictable weather conditions did not permit authorities to air lift body of Sub Inspector Imran Tak who was killed in a militant attack at Zakura area of Srinagar two days ago. The officer said they are investigating who floated false information with regard to belittling honour of slain officer.
The officer said that flying of helicopter in dark and poor weather conditions was not possible and could have posed threat to the safety of the family. “After performing the wreath laying ceremony, the body of martyred SI was respectfully despatched to his home place.
“The family including wife and daughter of the martyred officer travelled in a private swift car to ensure a comfortable journey and not in the ambulance,” he said.
The Police officer said that cash amount worth Rs.1 lakh welfare was also handed over to the near ones to facilitate the last rites of the slain officer. “Some of his colleagues including a DySP rank officer travelled in ambulance along with the body of martyred officer,” he said.
The police officer said that the wreath laying ceremony concluded at 7 pm in Srinagar and besides poor weather conditions, flying of chopper was not possible. They further said that native village of slain officer Basantgarh in Udhampur is a remote place with no helipad and it would have delayed the last rites
The police officer said that they are trying to ascertain the source of the false information giver “who is trying to undermine the honour attained and received by the officer who made a supreme sacrifice”.
