GANDERBAL, AUGUST 12: As part of the Swachhta Pakhwada initiative, the Sakhi One Stop Centre, Ganderbal, in collaboration with the Department of Education Ganderbal and supported by the District Administration, District Information Centre Ganderbal, District Social Welfare Office Ganderbal conducted a comprehensive cleanliness, awareness and plantation drive at Wayil Ganderbal.
The event aimed to promote sanitation and environmental awareness among students and the broader community.
Children from eight schools, along with students from Parisha and Palash, actively participated in the drive.
The event kicked-off with a painting competition designed to raise awareness about the environment and encourage children’s creativity.
The theme focused on the importance of a clean environment, and the competition showcased the children’s creativity through thought-provoking paintings that highlighted the adverse effects of pollution and the need for a clean environment.
This event was held at the office premises of the She Hope Society for Women Entrepreneurs, providing a platform for young minds to express their concerns and solutions for environmental issues.
In addition to the painting competition, a plantation drive was held in the grounds of Ahat-e-Waqar (Senior Citizen Home), Ganderbal. Numerous plants were planted, contributing to the beautification and greening of the area.
This initiative not only aimed at enhancing the local environment but also at instilling a sense of responsibility and care for nature among the participants.
Moreover, children, under the guidance of One Stop Centre staff, participated in a cleanliness drive in the Sendbal area. This hands-on activity allowed the students to directly contribute to the cleanliness of their surroundings, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
The Zonal Education Officer, Ganderbal encouraged students to actively participate in such events. He further urged students to seize every opportunity to hone their talents and contribute to environmental sustainability.
The event was a significant step towards fostering environmental consciousness and promoting a cleaner, greener future.
It highlighted the collaborative efforts of various organizations and the active participation of young students in making a positive impact on their community.
The winners were felicitated towards the end of the event. In the General category, Muntazir from Boys Higher Secondary School Gutlibgh secured the first prize. In the Special category, Marifat from Parisha took the top spot, while Maroofa Quyoom from Government High School won first place in the Consolation category.
All participants were honored at the end of the event, with each one receiving a medal.
A Tiranga rally was conducted during the cleaning drive, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a clean environment.
