Ganderbal 02 July (KNZ) :Many units of sawmills has been established in forest areas of Ganderbal which are Illegal accroding to SRO 103.
SRO 103 says that there is strict restrictions on setting up woddden sawmills in forests areas and there should be appropriate license by concerned authorities.
According to sources many sawmills are working in various areas of Ganderbal without licences.Question are being about establishment of Illegal sawmills in forest areas
Bandsaw mills have huge effect on forests which have put fauna and flora in danger.
Local residents of Ganderbal said that employees turned blind eye while Illegal sawmills were being established.Sawmills take months to establish
According to sources concerned forester is operated 6 blocks in Ganderbal district (Dagh park,Shalabugh block,Fethpora forest nerssery,main town,outside town and shuhama block).Question arise how a Forester have given charge to operate 6 blocks which he is not able to maintain.
Sources Said the forester is president of forest employees in Ganderbal,taking that benifit he is taking privilege .
Sources said Higher official are delebratily not paying any heed towards this managment .
When Kashmir News Zone-KNZ contacted Forester Gh Nabi war , he said “After 5 August due the situation we were able to perform our duty properly and beacause of recent lockdown due to COVID-19 we were able to go on duty as our department don’t fall in essential services.Due to which Forest were destroyed and goverment has ordered employees to be at home.”
When Kashmir News Zone-KNZ contacted DFO Ganderbal Owais Ahmad he said, “We have issued notices to these Illegal sawmills and we will demolished these Illegal mills on Saturday .”he added.KNZ
