Srinagar, : A motorcyclist died while his pillion rider was injured in a road mishap in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday late evening.
Official sources told news agency Global News Service (GNS) that two teenagers were riding the motorcycle when it was hit by a police Rakshak near Kanipora in the southern district.
In the incident, the duo suffered serious injuries and have been shifted to nearby hospital for treatment. However, one of the injured identified as Qasid Mushtaq (19) R/o Aliyalpora shopian, succumbed to his injuries, they said.
Another injured identified as Hadil Manzoor of Kanipora Shopian referred to Srinagar hospital for specialized treatment, they said.
A senior police officer while confirming the incident told GNS that the motorcyclist died today in an accident. He said that the mishap took place at Kanipora Shopian between a police vehicle (rakshak) and a motorcycle in which two persons got injured and later one of them identified as Qasid Mushtaq R/o Aliyalpora Shopian died.
The driver of the Rakshak has been taken into custody and vehicle has been seized, the officer said.
