Srinagar, 08 Nov: Srinagar – the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir – recorded the coldest night of the season as the minimum temperature plunged to minus 1.4 degrees Celsius.
Qazigund the gateway town to the valley – in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 0.8 degrees Celsius, while the nearby Kokernag town registered a low of 2.8 degrees Celsius on Saturday night.
Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 2.2 degrees Celsius on Saturday night.
The night temperature in Pahalgam, which serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath yatra in south Kashmir, settled at a low of minus 2.8 degrees Celsius. The resort was colder than Gulmarg and the coldest place in the valley.
The ski-resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded the minimum temperature of 1.8 degrees Celsius.
Leh recorded a low of minus 11.0 degrees Celsius on Saturday night down from minus 7.4 degrees Celsius the previous night which was the coldest night of the season in the frontier town.
Kashmir Weather, independent weather forecaster, has forecast moderate rains and snow from 13th night onwards till 16th November in most parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
